When to use each image app
Photo apps except background removal run in the browser. Cut-outs are a cloud job. Use this guide when you are unsure which tile to open on the Images page.
In this tab
Compress shrinks JPG, PNG, and WebP so email and forms accept the file. Convert switches formats when a site only allows one type. Resize changes pixel dimensions for banners or thumbnails.
Crop locks ratios like 1:1 or 9:16 for social posts. Rotate turns 90° or flips a sideways phone photo. Watermark draws text or a logo on the pixels before you publish a draft.
All of these stay on your device. There is no server copy to delete later — closing the tab clears the working file.
On the server
Remove background uploads the photo, cuts the subject, and returns a transparent PNG on your dashboard. Treat it like any other cloud job: originals are removed after processing, and the PNG expires after about 30 days unless you delete sooner.
If you only need a smaller file or a different format, prefer Compress or Convert instead of uploading for a cut-out.
